Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of rolled oats (gluten-free if needed)
  • 4 cups of filtered water
  • Optional sweeteners or flavourings (e.g., maple syrup, vanilla extract, or dates)

Homemade Oat Milk Recipe: How to Create Creamy Plant-Based Milk at Home

Instructions:

  1. Rinse and Drain:

    • Rinse the oats thoroughly under cold, running water. Drain them to remove excess starch.
  2. Blend Oats and Water:

    • In a blender, combine the rinsed oats and filtered water.
    • If you'd like sweetened or flavoured oat milk, add your choice of sweeteners or flavourings at this stage.
  3. Blend Until Smooth:

    • Blend on high for about 30 seconds or until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Strain the Mixture:

    • Place a nut milk bag, fine-mesh strainer, or cheesecloth over a clean container or pitcher.
    • Pour the blended mixture through the strainer, squeezing or pressing to extract all the liquid.
  5. Store and Refrigerate:

    • Transfer the strained oat milk to a sealed container or bottle.
    • Store it in the refrigerator for up to 5-7 days.
